In short: Your spreadsheets and dashboards stay in your browser. We do not upload your CSV/Excel files to our servers. We collect minimal website analytics (only with your consent) and support emails you send us. You have rights to access, delete, and control your data under laws in your country.
1. Who we are
ReportGen AI operates the website and application at reportgenai.tech ("Service", "we", "us", "our"). For privacy-related questions or requests, contact: contact@reportgenai.tech.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to all users worldwide who visit reportgenai.tech or use the ReportGen AI workspace. It is written to comply with major privacy frameworks including the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR, California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP), Australia's Privacy Act 1988, and South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), among others.
3. Data we process
3.1 Data stored locally in your browser (not on our servers)
- Account information: Name, email, and password hash when you create a free account.
- Your files & dashboards: CSV/Excel content, generated reports, dashboard configurations, and settings.
- API keys: AI Narrative / BYOK is currently paused. If re-enabled later, keys would be stored locally in your browser only.
- License/plan data: Pro license key and plan tier stored locally after activation.
3.2 Data we may collect on our systems
- Support communications: Emails and contact form messages you send to contact@reportgenai.tech.
- Analytics (with consent): Google Analytics 4 — page views, general usage events, approximate location (country/city level), device/browser type. We enable IP anonymization. We do not send your spreadsheet content or dashboard data to Google Analytics.
- Server logs: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages accessed, timestamps) may be retained by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
3.3 What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not upload your CSV/Excel files to our servers in the current version of the Service.
4. Local-first processing
ReportGen AI is designed as a client-side application. Your data files are processed in your web browser. This reduces privacy risk and helps you meet internal data governance requirements. You can delete all local data at any time by clearing your browser storage for reportgenai.tech or signing out and clearing site data.
5. Legal bases for processing (GDPR / LGPD)
- Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you request (account, dashboards, exports).
- Consent: Optional analytics cookies; AI features using your own API keys.
- Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, improving the Service, responding to support requests.
- Legal obligation: Where required by applicable law.
6. Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell personal data. We may share limited information with:
- Service providers: Hosting (e.g., web hosting), email delivery, and analytics (Google) — only as needed and under appropriate safeguards.
- AI providers: AI Narrative (BYOK) is temporarily unavailable. Browser-local AI Insights do not send data to third-party AI APIs.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
If personal data is transferred outside your country, we rely on appropriate safeguards where required (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or your consent).
7. Retention
- Local browser data: Retained until you delete it or clear browser storage.
- Support emails: Retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for legitimate business/legal purposes (typically up to 3 years unless longer retention is required).
- Analytics: Per Google's retention settings; we configure minimized retention where possible.
8. Your rights worldwide
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights. We honor these requests regardless of where you live, to the extent applicable:

ReportGen AI is not directed at children under 16 (or under the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use HTTPS, secure hosting practices, and privacy-by-design architecture. Because data is primarily stored locally, you are also responsible for securing your device and browser. Use strong passwords and do not share your account credentials.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be communicated via the website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
